Mike Wilson

Mike is the assistant director with the McMaster Health Forum, a part-time assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and and investigator with the Program in Policy Decision-making at McMaster University. At the Health Forum, Mike writes and helps oversee the development of products such as evidence briefs and dialogue summaries that are used to inform stakeholder dialogues on pressing health issues. He also contributes to evaluations of the briefs and dialogues, and is involved with educational initiatives offered through the Forum. Mike’s research is focused on supporting the use of research evidence in health systems with specific interest in community-based organizations and health system managers and policymakers. He is also interested in research related to the politics of healthcare systems and the social determinants of health for people living with HIV/AIDS. Mike helped lead the development of Health Systems Evidence, which is a key source of research evidence for the development of the evidence briefs at the Forum. In addition, Mike is currently developing a similar evidence service entitled SHARE (Synthesized HIV/AIDS Research Evidence), which is designed to help community-based organizations and other health system stakeholders efficiently find and use HIV-relevant research syntheses.

Mike holds a PhD in health research methodology and a B.H.Sc. (Hons.) from McMaster. He studied political science at the University of Toronto between his undergraduate and graduate degrees.
